Most people are programmed to put their clothes on a hanger in a certain direction. I wonder if it has something to do with being left brained or right brained. And then there are people that don't care and just hang things any old way.
Hanging all your items in the same direction adds a component of neatness to your closet.
Also hang similar items together. Pants in one section, long sleeved tops or shirts in another, short sleeve together.

LESS in a closet gives the eye visual relief. So, while you're tempted to keep a lot of "what if" clothes (you know, the type you're keeping just in case you need it), you'll feel a lot more organized and your closet will be neater without them hanging around.
